Why does Cimco use Type E Thermocouples?

  • They contain very small amounts of magnetic materials
  • Linear +/- 1ºC over 0-250ºC range
  • Two lead wires with very small space between them contained in one molded case
  • Not noticeably affected by noise from magnetic and electrical fields

Why does Cimco not recommend using RTDs?

  • They consist of two leads
  • The leads are separate wires
  • The separate wires collect a lot of noise from both magnetic and electrical fields
  • They failed numerous tests conducted by Cimco
  • Twisted pair does not improve performance noticeably

Why does Cimco not recommend using Thermistors?

  • Thermistors only cover temperatures up to 130ºC

  • Very susceptible to noise from magnetic and electrical fields
